Dry skin

A damaged skin barrier and dry skin are two of the most common causes of skin imbalance. The skin barrier acts as the body's outermost protective shield. When this barrier is weakened, the skin loses its ability to retain moisture, leading to a vicious cycle of dryness, irritation, and increased sensitivity.
Signs of a damaged skin barrier
Unlike naturally dry skin (which is caused by a genetic lack of oil), a damaged barrier is a condition that can affect all skin types. It often occurs due to over-exfoliation, harsh products, stress, or an extreme climate. Common symptoms include tightness and flaking, stinging and redness from regular products, as well as increased reactivity with itching or sudden breakouts.
The solution: Focus on repair and moisture
To restore balance, a mindful and minimalist skincare routine is required, focusing on repairing rather than activating. By excluding harsh acids and retinol for a period, the skin can heal.
The focus should be on barrier-strengthening components in succession: ceramides and fatty acids that rebuild the skin's protection, hyaluronic acid and glycerin that bind moisture deeply, and niacinamide and panthenol that soothe inflammation and accelerate healing. By combining these, the lipid barrier is repaired at a cellular level, restoring the skin's natural radiance and resilience.
